• The Patristic Psychology is a pioneering field developed both nationally and internationally by Simona Ciobanu, PhD.
• Counseling according to the principles of patristic psychology is based on the interdisciplinary method developed and presented in Ciobanu, S., Psychological and Spiritual Illness in the View of Modern Psychotherapy and the Philokalia, 2014.
• The guiding patristic principle followed closely in the counseling process is: ’Good is not good unless done right’.
• In addition to Dr. Ciobanu, there is only one more trainer according to the principles of patristic psychology accredited within our Association, at the moment.
• Both are currently working at the Headquarter of The Association in Bucharest, offering also online sessions, if necessary.
1. Send an email to our address contact@patristicpsychology.com in which you describe the problem you are facing and leave a phone number where you can be contacted directly.
2. As soon as possible, you will be contacted by phone. If your problem falls within our area of competence, you will be scheduled for an Evaluation Session, during which it will be decided how we can further support you.
3. In order to benefit from individual sessions it is necessary to be/become Active Sustainer of The Association. You will be informed about these aspects during the first evaluation session.
4. Before starting the actual sessions, it is necessary that you sign the Agreement of Confidentiality.
Before sending us a request, we recommend you to become familiar with the universe of our field and method by listening to the interviews in the section: BROADCAST
Depends on the following:
1. The type of problem (if it falls within our area of competence).
2. The time availability of one of the trainers. The number of places is limited because the counseling sessions are long-term processes and can be taken over only by the two trainers.
3. Your timing with the available time slot in the trainer’s schedule.
4. Your ability to benefit from our method.
*Please note that the main mission of the Association is to research and elaborate the field, principles and methods of Patristic Psychology, and we can respond to a limited number of requests for individual counseling and courses.
The processes of individual counseling have different durations depending on:
1. The type of the problem;
2. The frequency of sessions;
3. The ability of the Sustainer to put into practice our method;
4. The life context of the Sustainer which directly influences the self-work availability.
1. The evaluation stage (the initial session, setting the counseling objectives, becoming an Active Sustainer, signing the Agreement of Confidentiality).
2. The actual counseling stage (with a weekly frequency, variable in duration, setting and following the praxis-work, with a permanent evaluation of the progress).
3. The consultancy stage (with a monthly frequency or less often, depending on the needs of the Sustainer).
The individual counseling sessions take place:
- In persona – at one of the two headquarters of The Association in Bucharest;
- Online.
